Grace ...

The first thing people notice about Grace is her beautiful golden hair. People take one look at her and think her appearence is what is typically described as 'English Rose'. But there's more to Grace than meets the eye.
Originally from South Africa, Grace has an interesting heritage. Her mother Emma was from England. Emma's family moved to South Africa after a holiday there in 1979. Emma met Grace's father Baruti who was mixed race Zulu/Afrikaner, when she became involved in the Human Rights Movement. It was very difficult for Emma and Baruti to be together at first, because of Apartheid.

When Grace was eight years old, both her parents died in a car crash. Grace was sent by her aunt to live with her grandmother in England. But Grace's grandmother wasn't really capable of looking after her. She's had to go and live in residential care herself because of physical and mental ill-health. So Grace was brought to live at Haven Hope.
Grace loves girly things such as make-up, clothes and jewellery. Sometimes she has a tendency to hoard things, it makes her feel safe and in control. She shares a room with Alice and they both like having each other as room-mates because they are both quiet characters.
Grace has a very special relationship with the smallest pony at Haven Hope. This is Hetty who was rather frightened when she first arrived and for some reason, she intinctively sought solace in Grace. Grace is the one who always brushes Hetty and gives her a wash in the yard.
