Freddy is an active character who is always ready to defend himself if challenged! This is because he'd had to look after himself for a long time before he found anybody to help take care of him.
Freddy has found that his natural ability with sports helps to channel his surplus of energy, as well as focus his thoughts when bad memories start crowding together in his head. He likes playing cricket during the summer and rugby in the winter, but he seems to be talented at any sports activity and players are always happy to have Freddy on their team.
Freddy is really brave. He had to travel alone on a long and frightening journey from his country of birth a couple of years ago because he needed to escape from the terrible circumstances his family were subjected to. Freddy managed to get away from his home village by crawling through some scratchy, tangly undergrowth where he hid for more than two days. When he came out there was nobody left. So Freddy began to walk and just kept on walking, understanding enough to know that he needed to remain hidden from the people who had destroyed his village. Eventually, Freddy made it to the coast. By this time he'd become very clever at not being seen, this is how he was able to secrete himself onto a cargo ship and manage not to get discovered until the ship arrived in the UK!
